CNet. Great site for technology news, updates, and downloads.

 

Gibson Research Corporation. Steve Gibson is a premier computer scientist and software developer. His site lists dozens of useful applications (many of them free), as well as some very advanced online tests to identify security risks on your computer.

 

Google Toolbar. This is the best toolbar we've used. It allows you to search the web with Google right from IE, eliminates most pop-up ads, allows you to restrict your search to pages orginating from a specific country or to highlight your search terms on a page, and much more. (By the way -- Google's not paying us to say all this stuff. We really do love this toolbar.)

Microsoft. Microsoft's official web site contains a staggering amount of helpful information about Microsoft's operating systems and other software.

 

:Tesla-PC/NYC. Tesla Technologies, LLC is a computer repair company in New York City. Their site has a great deal of valuable information about computers and technology.

 

Tom's Hardware Guide. An astonishing amount of valuable information about computer hardware. Highly recommended.

 

TuCows. Many great downloads and up-to-date technology information.

 

Warriors of the Net. This well-done, entertaining, and informative MPEG movie runs a little under 13 minutes and helps illustrate the process by which informations is transferred between computers on the Internet. There are several quality levels available, the smallest of which is a 73 MB file; so you'll need a broadband Internet connection.

 

ZD-Net. One of the premier Internet sites for technology news, information, and downloads.
